Howls

The tree knocks are heard now more and more often. They start around five thirty in the evening and last until about eight. Then the howls begin around midnight and go until about two in the morning.I have been hoping to get my recorders back out , but the rain has kept me from doing that. The rain bleeds over anything we would hope to capture, tomorrow night is looking good for that. Some of the howls are blood-curdling yet exciting as well.

Marty and I let one of our female hybrids outside a few night ago for a potty break. We didn't find it unusual that this particular dog went out by herself. We let our dogs out at night as they need to go.This female  is very laid back and docile. She was only out a few moments when she scratched on the door to be let back in. I got up and let her inside, she made a bee-line for our bedroom. I really didn't find this so odd at the time, but looking back now, she showed all the signs of being spooked. I had gone into the bedroom behind her to get something. She was up on our bed so I reach out to pet her before I turned out the light and left the room. That's when I saw the blood all over our bed. I yelled for Marty immediately. She was bleeding heavily from one of her feet yet she had blood all over her back and the back of her head. Marty got the bleeding on her foot stopped and we checked her all over but there was nowhere else that any blood was coming from. How did it get on her back and the back of her head? She had been outside about three minutes. How did she get hurt so quickly? We have no answer as to what happened to her, but we no longer let one dog go out by itself after dark.We had thought having a fenced in yard they were perfectly safe, now I'm not so sure. Our girl is doing fine now, but she no longer likes going outside after dark. She is only two so I'm hoping we can get her out of this soon.

Marty and Chris were outside yesterday looking for some apple wood for grilling. Chris had reach up and broke a few branches off a small tree and that's when they noticed that this tree was not a tree at all, but a very large branch that had been shoved down in the ground. It was too deep in the ground for a human to have done it.I have no explanation for why it was there or how it got there.
